Three Things You Need to Know About PTZ Optics Cameras

Let’s talk about cameras.

A good camera is crucial for producing high-quality live stream video, right? We all know this. And when it comes to cameras, there is no shortage out there in the marketplace. In fact, you are more likely to be overwhelmed by your amount of choices—HDMI? SDI? Wifi?—than you are being able to find one specific to your needs.

There’s definitely one out there. The question is, which one do you choose?

We decided to do a little of the legwork for you.

This week we sat down with industry expert Eric Pratt, CTO of U.S. Broadcast, to discuss PTZ Optics, one of the leading live stream-compatible camera lines out there right now.

PTZ Optics offers 12X and 20X HD-SDI, HDMI, USB 3.0 and IP streaming capable cameras.

Here’s what Eric had to say about them:

Easy Compatibility with Live Streaming

One of the best features of the PTZ Optics cameras is their live stream-compatibility. “You can stream directly to MediaFusion from the camera,” says Eric. “The camera creates an H.264 stream that you plug into a translation service and upload into an RTMP stream to MediaFusion.”

Good Value

We know not everyone has thousands to invest in a camera, but budget constraints don’t mean you have to sacrifice quality. As Eric says, “For the price, [PTZ Optics cameras] are almost half the cost of a similar quality camera. Sony and Panasonic make the same sort of camera, the same functionality, the same features, but they cost twice as much. So the value to consumers is significantly higher.”

The cameras are also relatively easy to use, so you don’t need to hire extra staff on top of your camera purchase.

Distributor and Reseller Channel

Bonus: PTZ Optics has a reseller channel! Their reseller channel works well with integrators, distributors and resellers of all kinds. You can learn more about that here.

We would love to hear your thoughts on cameras and what’s on the market right now that you’re interested in. And if there’s a particular product you’d like us to consider reviewing, let us know in the comments below.
